In general in all the western countries Jews have been in the forefront to support democracy. Indeed, it is only natural for the the ethnic minority to rely on the legal system that sets grounds for its secure existence, rather than to depend on the mood of a governing individual. Today, Jewish activists and Jewish organizations are on the front-line to fight for the human rights in the majority of western countries, Eastern Europe and South America.
Acknowledging this fact, the article in the Israeli media portal “News1” by Michael Schmidt came out as a surprise to me. The procedures of the election of the World Jewish Congress president, that are represented in this article, can not be called exactly democratic.
