While low cost carrier Air Berlin is in rough water, European budget airlines Ryanair and Easyjet remain strong and focus now more and more on businessman. This is the core market of Lufthansa. Here, a change in position of CEO is on its way. With effect on 1st of May, Carsten Spohr is taking over from Christoph Franz. The new CEO has been pilot by himself and was the most important companion for reconstruction of Germany’s largest airline. During the last years and right now, 3.500 jobs have and are going to be cut. Now, the harvest is to be retraced. Operating income is expected to rise to 2.65 billion euros. A very healthy basis for the ongoing shift in aviation market in the coming years.
